House Jones was founded in October 2021 with the aim to be a parent company for the founders multiple business ideas.

Our founder created the company at 27 years old with the idea that the company will leave a legacy of brands that become household names and leave a positive impact in the world.

Although a global pandemic was still amidst and the founder dealing with health issues. The leap of faith was taken to start the journey. Persistent health troubles lead to a longer delay for things to start happening.

Although health issues were still having an impact on ability to work, work towards the vision started regardless. After multiple years of generating business ideas and noting them down, the time had come to take another leap of faith.. creating a new venture.

This venture came at a time when interest rates and inflation were at the highest it had been for a long time. Still, the desire for creating something innovative, new and suitable for the circumstances.

A sports based venture was started to be worked on, one around the most popular sport in the world, football. Something innovative, affordable, convenient and stage to allow football fans to take part.

In this time ideas was started to be implemented on. Minimum amount of equipment and money was spent to create a small research event. Asking friends for a small (but big) favour in an apprentice task style attempt at gaining the views of our target audience. Founder and friends headed to a local school pitch where 5 a side football was taking place.

Multiple issues on the night created chaos to get the research event to take place, but eventually the hurdles were overcome and people took part in the event. Questionnaires filled out and a real life gauge of peoples reaction was noted to see if this venture may have legs.

People seemed to enjoy the event on the night but after the chaos the founder started to doubt if it was possible and worth it. After gathering the results from the questionnaires the data was compiled to show that overall the venture was indeed worth having a go at. 2 research attendants split the free prize money for taking part and won £25 each.

In this time, a subscription website platform for league websites was bought and the domains for crossbarsport.com/co.uk were also purchased. Work on the website had begun and so far a total of around £300 was spent on the research event (equipment, insurance, paperwork, stationery) and the website.

No days off as the website was being worked on everyday including weekends to create the vision.

An office address is found and Crossbar Sport Ltd is created and registered in England and Wales.

A busy few months of continuing development of the website, contacting venues and football clubs as well as trying to find a permanent venue in Wolverhampton.

A lot of time and hard work went into the business in this period with quite a few setbacks.

An ongoing eye issue for the founder since the start of 2020 had finally hit a breaking point. This included multiple eye surgery’s including a corneal transplant and loss of vision in the left eye.

This issue halted all the momentum that had been building up due to being in and out of hospital and not feeling up to getting much done for the next couple of months.

More set backs in this time period mainly with legal issues such as contracts and employing staff. But the biggest was a halt to the original idea of Crossbar Sport.

Due to potential trademark disputes and a big risk in a seize and desist notice. Crossbar Sport had to make a decision on where the brand could go and would have to pivot to survive as a brand.

Also Crossbar Sport Ltd was officially taken over control by House Jones Limited with Crossbar Sport Ltd became a 100% wholly owned subsidiary.

The launch of this website took place in this month.
